Silver Coins – Generic .999 Silver Round verses the .999 American Silver Eagle Round

This video wasn't made to step on anyone's feet or to hurt anyones pride. But it was made to rattle a few cages out there in the Silver Market. Remember my slogan, "Silver is Silver is Silver". This video explains my reasons for not buying the ASE. If you're one that believes in an economic collapse is likely to occur, then why are you buying the ASE? The reason I prefer the Generic Round and small weight silver should be evident in this video.....being that I expect an economic collapse ...

I 100% agree! I think the best thing to do (if you own a lot of silver) is be diversified in Eagles, Maples, Libertads, Philharmonics, Generic rounds/bars from well recognized/respected mints (amark/sunshine/JM/Engelhard), and 90% dimes, quarters, halves (always the most weight for the $ when deciding what to get in 90%) …sidenote: it maybe a good idea to get some (just a little) 80% canadian silver/mexican silver as well. That way, you’ll be better off if traveling to Canada or Mexico.

Yes, I traded 8 silver Pandas for 25 generic rounds. Right now, especially is a great time to do it, while silver spot is low!

You’ve given me much to think about.

  8. WhyMeWhySilver says:

You quoted “small mints”. Are you saying Private Mints?

  9. WhyMeWhySilver says:

Hey guy! LOL! You’ve got friend block in your channel editing LOL! I can’t send you a message except on your comment section on your profile page :>)

  10. WhyMeWhySilver says:

Wow! It went through hehe. You must have corrected it. :>)

  11. emitt1 says:

Yeap, sorry, private mints. Are any more preferred than others?

  12. WhyMeWhySilver says:

Hi emitt….sorry so late! My fought! Well….as for the Private Mints, lots of people like the early Engelhard, A-Mark, Sunshine, U.S. Assay Office, and SilverTowne are some of your popular Private Mint Rounds struck in the early 80′s. I even like the American Pacific Mints Rounds, or the World Wide Mint Rounds. Now days there’s the APMEX, NorthWest Territory, Pan American, and lot’s of coins with different artwork with the obverse of U.S. Coins like the Morgan, and Standing Liberty.

If such crisys occur, would the gas station give you more gas with nice ASE in plastic rather than lets say ugly 1oz chip off cut from 100oz bar?

  14. WhyMeWhySilver says:

Hi stermr, I get that question at times. In my opinion, there might would come a point that a chip off the 100oz would be welcomed. Let’s think! Only a small percentage of people even invest in silver or even think a crisis might occur. So in my using a little horse sense, that makes it understandable that there would be a heavy shortage of silver since most won’t have it. It may also turn out that those nice ASE’s(even the generics)would be melted down to a common smaller weight coin, continued

  15. WhyMeWhySilver says:

I say this because we have to consider that even merchants would not want confusion in having to sort out many types of different coins and having to recognize them. This is me only thinking as if I was a merchant. In my viewing a youtube video ID called mustangjake2073 you’ll see that the refineries don’t discriminate between coins that’s headed to the smelter. So….my guess is that easy distinguishable coins would be stuck making them easier to recognize by the merchant. This is my opinion.

Yeah, thanks for your time to reply.

I bought several 5oz and 10oz rounds from APMEX the other day. I dont see much reason to get silver eagles or maple leafs, the over spot price is noticeably more than APMEX rounds. They sure are pretty tho.

  19. WhyMeWhySilver says:

LOL! Yeah they are ForTeh! But they also are subject to being melted down in time to come.

The problem in an economic collapse is that merchants will be wary of getting ripped off by unfamiliar coins that buyers SAY are silver. NW mint’s round, for example would be very easy to fake due to its simple design. It or any other round or bar could be cast from copper and silver plated and passed off as real silver.

But the intricacy of design of the ASE makes them almost impossible to economically counterfeit and any merchant would be able to see that. Also they are a piece of art.

  22. frogrfb says:

ASE’s, in having 2 kinds of intrinsic value, that of the silver itself, and that of being a beautiful piece of artwork, will always make them trade for a premium above other silver forms in an economic collapse.

I totally see your point about being able to buy more silver for the buck w/generic rounds, and I have generic silver on hand too (tomorrow I’m buying five 100oz englehards from a wholesaler), but I’m ALSO buying 4 Monster Boxes from NWT mint! I’ve mixed my gold like that too.

  23. WhyMeWhySilver says:

The Chinese (reading articles) are already counterfeiting ASE’s. There’s just not enough ASE’s in population. Only around 210,000,000. Including foreign investors that buy the ASE puts people in a position to not trade in commerce? So merchants will be welcoming (generic)silver rounds. It’s very easy to test rounds for authenticity. Your counterfeiting will most likely be large silver bars drilled and filled. Remember….the Chinese have counterfeited everything the USA has ever made.

  24. WhyMeWhySilver says:

My opinion is that silver will be silver. They want have to offer premiums for ASE if you want to eat. So…..in the long run you’ll pay more for food than I would.
