Gold coins

A few well-known gold coins. Note, in view of comments received - I'm tired of explaining: Please do not get hurt / upset / tense by the way I handle the coins. These are common BULLION coins, they are NOT rare / collectors / numismatic coins. That means their only value is in their weight, not their face condition. It means that they are handled and traded heavily by bullion dealers and (within reason) their face condition does not affect premium or spot price. Bullion coins and bars are ...

If you live in the United States.. I would urge you to get rid of your:

    Gold Maple Leafs
    Gold Kugerrands
    Gold Pandas

because when push come to shove… you’ll have to do a 1099. Which means that the person that you’re selling these items toO.. will report your name and social security to the Government. The Government may end up taking your Gold and or may keep you from selling your Gold!!

Just a heads up, You guys take it easy..

Research what happened in the ’30s when FDR called in gold. Safe deposit boxes weren’t safe from the Feds…

“Safe deposit boxes weren’t safe from the Feds..”

If a similar situation is coming there will be plenty of time to clear out your box.

Keep a few at home but from what I remember this guy had over $50,000 worth of gold in that tupperware container. Untraceable, highly portable, & easily liquidated equals a thief’s wet-dream.

I have slightly less & keep all but 2 at the bank. Helps me sleep at night.

The one think I like about my gold coins is you can actually feel them and touch them. It truly is a good feeling. I do have those 1903 coins in boxes which are not fun to hold, higher value though…

It is true that the American Gold Eagle copied the size and weight and purity of the Krugerrand (both 22K), but the Krugerrand is just mixed with copper, the AGE is mixed with a copper/silver alloy to prevent the copper tone like the Krug.

Anyone who can buy gold, such as myself can also invest in a home safe. I keep my silver and gold in small fire proof boxes that then sit inside of a large, bolted to the wall and floor, fire proof gun safe.
Hint: The guns aren’t in the safe. What if I need them to come to the rescue of the gold. Who will protect the gold. I will. 9mm and shotgun shooting 1oz slugs.

I only plan to sell black market when the SHTF. I will never sale looking for huge profits. I see my stash as a way to barter during extreme times. But that’s just me and my $.02

gold is a great hedge, but a speclative nightmare…..if you buy gold now, it will take at least a year to cover the premium your buying it at. ALWAYS buy metals below or at the spot price.

  23. theSharpGun says:

02malicious, you have a big leg up. i have 165.034607 grams of gold coin and 65.3173013 grams of platinum coin. You have 6.41738 times my current gold coin holdings. Remarkable!

Well, at least gold isn’t corrosive. And to be fair, yes those are bullion. Bullion dealers have done a lot worse to them. I do hope you don’t do anything to the buffalos that are still in the original packaging; those haven’t been touched. Trust me, westerndeep, those could get you a huge premium over spot among collectors. I just hope you don’t do this to any of your silver.
