There is an excellent image (both sides) of the Austrian 4 Ducat on the APMEX (dot com) website, under World Gold Coins, Europe, Austria. .4430 oz gold content. There is also a brief history of the coin. =^[.]^=
I have a 4 Ducat coin, and the diameter on that coin is also thin.
Nice coin there Mike, so very thin.
Very nice.
Hey Mike do like 2 peso gold coins they seem like a good deal. I was thinking about getting some because I can’t afford a lot of gold.
Yaaaay!, more HORSE SENSE!! God Bless you Mike!
A very beautiful coin. I haven’t purchased any foreign coins at this point. I choose to buy only in cash, and generally I buy from an older gentlemen who gives me a good deal on American minted coins. So I can get a 1/10th oz. Gold Eagle for $135 instead of the going rate which is $145 to $150. I try to buy at least 5 Gold coins each year, but I’m hoping to increase that in the future.

British Gold Sovereigns are the mutts nuts!
@Instrumentally Oh yes……I have a few of the 2 pesos. I think the 2 peso will be excellent sellers in the future. Especially if gold gets to the highs projected.
great coin mike
How is any light level legal or not legal. Gov is funny that way.
Mike I just want to thank you for all the great info you have provided us with I have really learned alot from your videos and i want you to know that I as well I’m sure others really appreciate it so thank you and keep up the good work
@Anothercoilgun I think there’s a restriction in place being that a lot of kids have aimed lasers at airline pilots and automobile drivers.
@xle5363 You have kind words xle :>) Thank you.
Mike
howsay. dot com ducat the word sounds more like duck
@minrlwtr
In the video game, GTA3 San Andreas, your character can sometimes be heard saying “Gimme them ducats!!” when you pick up money.
I love nickel sized gold coins, French Roosters, Swiss Francs, Ducats … even American Half-Eagles. Perfectly sized coin.
The double eagle on the back of the ducat is a bit … creepy though. Not creepy enough to stick in my pocket, however.
Mike, your numbers are off. There is 0.1106 of actual gold in the one ducat. The total weight is 0.1122. So, you’ve got more gold than you thought.
I have not invested in gold, but I did pick up some silver .5 oz olympic coins from S Korea. I also picked up a couple of silver maple leaf coins today for $20 each. Although I hate those painted eagles, I got a few of those two for $18 each as well.
@hedge313 Hey friend…….that paint isn’t going to matter if bad things come. Just look at those pieces as barter coins :>)
I picked up one of those coins on my travels around Europe – like you said, they are really nice coins. If anyone reading this happens to visit Paris (the one in France not Texas!), there’s a street called Rue Vivienne where there are about 20 coin shops (just near the stock exchange) selling all kinds of neat European gold coins like these.
Very cool coin. I have never really looked at those. Thanks for the info and the great vid
Buying European gold coins makes you a SMART American. LoL
It almost looks like those German 20 Goldmark.Check it out.
